Analyzer Management and Data Acquisition System (AMADAS)

Reliable measurements from analyzer systems are the foundation for efficient and effective operation and Maintenance of a plant. Analyzer systems require however frequent validation, calibration and maintenance to meet performance requirements. Hint AML-AMADAS provides the infrastructure, the Industrial Internet of Thinks (IIoT) for managing and maintaining online analyzers in the field and off-line analyzers in the Laboratory with a minimum of resources.

Hint AML-AMADAS is an Analyzer Management And Data Acquisition System to monitor, evaluate and improve the performance of analyzers in the field and Laboratory in a cost-effective manner, thus improving the performance of your plant. It automatically collects real-time process data, diagnostics and validation data from analyzers and/or DCS, data historian, collects manually-entered data, interprets analyzer performance and provides quality data enabling better production performance management and predictive maintenance.

By integrating the different silos from analyzers, DCS, SCADA, Data Historian, LIMS, CEMS, PEMS, PIMS, MOMS, Plant Maintenance systems with AML-AMADAS, processes become more transparent, efficient and results in saving operating and maintenance cost.

Analyzer Management system AMADAS for Gas plant
The project was engineered Mid 2008 at Hint's offices in Hattem, The Netherlands. Mid 2009 a team of Hint engineers visited the site to install the equipment, connect it to the Yokogawa DCS, provide AML-AMADAS training and complete the site acceptance test. Saudi Aramco have gainied great experience with the package and have integrated its use in day to day laboratory and maintenance procedures.

Analyzer Management for Sour Gas Plant
Two Hint AML-AMADAS engineered mid-2009 and mid-2016, fulfilled clients need by providing a separate Open Maintenance infrastructure that assists in managing and maintaining online analyzers at the plant with a minimum of resources.
The AML-AMADAS server is connected to two local networks: the OPC network and the Plant Information Network (PIN). The OPC network is used for interaction of I/O data with the analyzers directly, Emerson DeltaV OPC server. The PIN is a general-purpose network that is used for exchanging information between the AML-AMADAS workstation and the AML-AMADAS server.

The AML-AMADAS server is connected to two local networks: the OPC network and the Plant Information Network (PIN). The OPC network is used for interaction of I/O data with the Field Analyzers, Honeywell DCS, OPC server, PI data historian, LIMS and plant Maintenance system. The PIN network is used for exchanging information between the AML-AMADAS workstation and the AML-AMADAS server Analyzer Management for Petrochemical Plant AML-AMADAS, engineered in 2013 fulfilled the client need by providing a separate Maintenance infrastructure that assists in managing and maintaining online analyzers at the plant and in the Laboratory with a minimum of resources.
The AML-AMADAS server is one of world’s largest implementations of its kind. The AML software is distributed on five servers, i.e. one AML Enterprise Server and four AML IO Servers. The AML Enterprise Server runs the AML web application and the AML central database, and provides read-only data access to the NWA-QA quality system. The IO servers are installed in four separate Central Operation Buildings and are responsible for real-time interaction through OPC with a large set of field equipment include 1400+ process analyzers and 1800+ gas detectors systems and systems such as 17 ABB IPCS systems, 17 Aspen IP.21 data historians, 2 CEMS systems, 4 PAMC systems and 4 GC servers. The OPC network is used for interaction of I/O data with the different type of Field Analyzers, LIMS and plant Maintenance system.

Analyzer Management for Refinery
AML-AMADAS, engineered in 2016 fulfilled the client need by providing an infrastructure that assists in managing and maintaining online analyzers at the plant and in the Laboratory with a minimum of resources.
The AML-AMADAS server is connected to two local networks: the OPC network and the Plant Information Network (PIN). The OPC network is used for interaction of I/O data with the Field Analyzers, Honeywell DCS, OPC server, data historian, LIMS and plant Maintenance system. The PIN is a general-purpose network that is used for exchanging information between the AML-AMADAS workstation and the AML-AMADAS server.


 

Hint also reported that one of their clients has estimated the payback period for investing in their AML-AMADAS solution to be less than 1 year, after which the annual benefits are estimated at $350,000. They stated that the AMADAS system is indispensable for: managing critical data, providing the SPC-tools required to control equipment maintenance, and consistent reporting on relevant performance indicators.
